Begin Again
I love traditional quilt patterns and I love flowers. My two loves came together in my quilt “Begin Again”. After my most recent work assignment ended, I was finally back in my studio full time. I took some time to rearrange my studio, sort through scraps and generally get organized. Then I was ready to “Begin Again”.
“Begin Again” is a quilted wallhanging that measures 30x30 inches. It is a traditional flowers in a pot quilt pattern that showcases modern ethnic fabrics. All of the appliqué is done by hand. The appliquéd center is framed by African prints.
I also lovingly quilted “Begin Again” by hand. I used “big stitch chicken scratch” stitches in the final two borders. The thick pearle thread adds a little texture to the quilt. After the quilting was done, I added several decorative buttons to carry out the theme of the quilt and add further dimension.
The back of the quilt is a floral pattern. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display. A label documents the quilt.
I signed the quilt on the front. This quilt is one-of-a-kind.
I hope this quilt makes you want to “Begin Again”. New beginnings are exciting.
