Speaking Quilts at the National Docent Symposium

I was honored to participate on a panel at the National Docent Symposium last week. Docents from around the country attended to learn and network.

High Museum of Art Curator Katherine Jentleson led the discussion about the Patterns in Abstraction — Black Quilts in the High’s Permanent Collection exhibit on view until January 5, 2025 at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta,

Quilters Marquetta Bell Johnson and Carolyn White were also on the panel. Each of us disussed our quilt that is part of the exhibit. My quilt A Star Among Stars was recently acquired by the High Museum for its permanent collection.

The Atlanta host committee went above and beyond with their ballroom decorations. Each table in the very large ballroom had a hand made quilt on it!

There was a different quilt on each table in the ballroom.

After our presentation, I met a lot of very nice people from all parts of the country. That’s always the best part of speaking quilts.

Attendees at the conference who are my sorority sisters.

It was a good day. I love speaking quilts. 🗣️

P.S. A Star Among Stars prints, mugs and water bottles are available in my store Just in time for holiday gift giving.
