The final installment of the Atlanta Quilt Festival’s John Lewis trilogy closes September 7th. The exhibit entitled Getting Into MY Good Trouble — Continuing the Legacy of Congressman John Lewis features quilts that depict social justice issues that need to change. The issues are personal to the quilters.

My quilt March For Black Maternal Health is part of the exhibit. As a new grandmother, I was horrified to learn all the things that can go wrong in a pregnancy. However, it was even more surprising to learn that the things that go wrong affect black women at a rate of 3 times more often than white women.
Happily for me, Baby Addison arrived fit, healthy and beautiful and India is fine too, but 9 months of worry inspired March For Black Maternal Health. Some things are just obviously wrong and need to be fixed.
