I float through life knowing that my personal better angels are looking after me. They make me show up and be my best self. That is what inspired this series of 8 quilts I named “Whispers From My Angels.”
Whispers From My Angels #8 is the last quilt in the series and measures 40x41 inches. The “angel words” say “Sing your song.” I think when my angel whispers those words in my ear, she is telling me to be authentically myself. What a great piece of advice!
The center of the quilt is a panel with the words surrounded by somewhat muted flowers and a bird. The name of the panel fabric is “Sing Your Song”, and the other seven quilts in the series start with different parts of one panel. I framed the panel in a gray print, then added two borders of music fabric to carry out the theme of the quilt. A pieced border adds interest to the composition of the quilt, and the two bright pink borders add boldness and brightness to the subtle panel in the middle. I ended the quilt with two dark blue borders.
I hand quilted Whispers From My Angels #8. I mostly used echo stitching in the center of the quilt but followed stencil quilt patterns in the borders. The binding is the same black and white musical note fabric in the quilt to add cohesion to the composition.
I embellished the quilt with the word angel in black sequins and added an angel charm near my signature. The charm is engraved with the words “Angels watching over me”. I brought the subtle flowers to life by adding painted buttons to add dimension and crystals to catch the light.
Of course there is angel fabric on the back to carry out the theme of the quilt. There is a hanging sleeve for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
I signed it on the front. This quilt is one of a kind.
P.S. The last thing I do before I list a quilt for sale is spritz her with Quietly Quilting fiber spray so she will look and smell her best.
