This one took a long time to finish because I kept putting it aside to work on other things. Happily Peaceful Porch Patchwork #3 is finished and I can share it.

I love the peacefulness of taupe quilts so much that I decided to create a series of taupe quilts. Each quilt is pieced in an improvisationally style to represent freedom from perfection. Each quilt is lovingly quilted by hand to represent the peace I find in hand quilting. I am sharing #3 today, but I have many more in my head. It’s my therapy.

Peaceful Porch Patchwork #3, is created from bits and pieces from other quilts. It measures 35 X 41 inches. After hand quilting in the ditch, I added three appliqued “peace” words. They are subtle and blend into the quilt, but if you look hard, you can find them.

To add more texture and dimension to the quilt, I added lots of buttons! A final thing you will notice about this quilt is that I added pops of red. Why? Because I like red.

The back of the quilt is also a taupe fabric -- There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.

I signed it on the front and added a peace charm.

It has been too cold to quilt on the porch, so Peaceful Porch Patchwork #3 was quilted in my rocking chair in my bedroom as I wind down each day.
