Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #1 is the first quilt in my new affirmation series. I believe that you do your best work (whatever that work is) when you look good and feel good. Each of the quilts in this series starts with a center panel of an African woman looking her best. Her dress inspires the color of each quilt.

Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #1 measures 27 X 33 inches and is primarily red, yellow and green. I included a Christmas fabric in one of the borders because that is a time of the year when we tend to look our best. Otherwise, the quilt is mostly African.

I quilted the quilt on my new Sashiko machine. It creates a stitch that mimics the look of hand quilting which I love. After quilting the quilt in a cross hatch pattern in yellow thread so that the stitches would become a design element, I added a kente binding that captures the colors in the quilt.

Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #1 is embellished with a yo-yo, cowrie shell, buttons, words, charms and crystals. The charm in the center of the quilt reads “Beautiful Girl, you can do hard things.’” The charm near my signature reads “Life is good”.

The back of the quilt depicts. African women to carry out the theme of the quilt. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.

I signed it on the front. Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #1 is unique and one-of-a-kind although it is part of a series.
