Follow Your Kind Star follows in the tradition of the friendship star quilts that danced in the ceiling of my solo exhibit “Long Time Coming: A Retrospective of O.V. Brantley’s Red and White Quilts.” The focus of the quilt is a single white friendship star block on a red background and bordered with white fabric.
The simple 21 X 25 inch design is given depth and dimension by chicken scratch hand quilting yo-go’s, buttons and a charm. The word kind is appliquéd on the center star of the quilt.
The back of the quilt is a red and white heart motif. There is a hanging sleeve for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
This quilt is one-of-a-kind although it is part of a series. I signed it on the front and attached a charm that says “Be Kind”.
