Follow Your Hopeful Star follows in the tradition of the friendship star quilts that danced in the ceiling of my solo exhibit “Long Time Coming: A Retrospective of O.V. Brantley’s Red and White Quilts.” The focus of the quilt is a single red friendship star block on a white background and bordered with red fabric.

The simple design is given depth and dimension by hand quilting, red silk flowers and lots of buttons. The word “hope”is appliquéd in the center of the quilt.

The back of the quilt is a red and white inspirational words motif. There is a hanging sleeve for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.

This quilt is one-of-a-kind although it is part of a series. I signed it on the front.
