My first grandchild is on the way, so of course I made a quilt to document the joyful occasion. I love memory quilts and try to document as many special occasions with a quilt as possible.
My quilt Dream Big Addison! made her public debut at Baby Addison’s baby shower April 27th. The adorable panel is perfect for her safari themed nursery, and I love the message of the quilt.
The panel makes the quilt, but I added a sparkling teal border, a pieced border and a wild final border to carry out the theme of the quilt. After I quilted Dream Big Addison! on my Janome sewing machine, I wrote her name, Mom, Dad, Granny, Penny and Barrett in my handwriting on the quilt to stress the importance of family. Penny and Barrett and her fur sister and brother.
There is a purple and yellow African print on the back that adds to the safari theme of the quilt and the color scheme of her nursery. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display in the nursery and a label that documents the quilt and the occasion.
I signed it on the front.
I hope that from her earliest days of consciousness that she will begin to dream big.
