Please forgive me if you get this twice. There was a technical glitch when I sent it before that caused most of my mailing list not transmit
They say if life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or if you are a quilter, if life gives you scraps, make a quilt. Well my scrappy lemon is that my ovbrantleyquiltstudio.com web site crashed. After a day or two of frustration trying to fix it, I decided to treat the disaster as an opportunity and create a new one. I would Begin Again as my quilt says. It would give me an opportunity for a bit of re-branding as my young people say. I named my new web site ovspeaksquilts.com because sending a positive message through my quilts is so important to me. (And of course lawyers love to talk, right)? Check it out when you have a chance.
Once my new web site was created I knew I had to update my mailing list. Many of you have followed me for years and may have changed your email. Some of you may follow my law life and have no interest in quilts. Sadly, some of you may have passed on. Whatever, your connection to me, this is your opportunity to reaffirm or cut ties. In other words, if you have no interest in quilts, mother/daughter travels and other joyful life activities, please feel free to unsubscribe.
Meanwhile, I want to thank my faithful supporters for helping me have such an amazing quilting summer. You turned out for the Freedom Quilts exhibit which was held in June at the Southwest Arts Center as part of the City of South Fulton Juneteenth celebration. Strength and Grace and a new quilt Hallelujah! Finally Free as a Bird! were part of the exhibit. The Freedom Quilts exhibit will return in 2022 so I will be working on some new freedom quilts.
Also, the Atlanta Quilt Festival, which was held at the Southwest Arts Center in August was bigger and more joyful than ever. It was great to see so many of you at the Opening Reception. Thank you for attending. Four of my quilts were part of that exhibit: Potion to Cure Racism, Begin Again, Be Confidently Daring and Give yourself Red and White Flowers. Next year the Festival will open at the Southwest Arts Center August 7th. Please save the date.
I will have a lot to speak to you about in October. India is getting formally married. (She had a Covid wedding last year, but now we are going to have the wedding that was cancelled). AND, I have not one, not two, but three quilts that will exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. How cool is that! Only the most beautiful quilts in the world exhibit at the International Quilt Festival. 😀
I will have much to share, but I don’t want to intrude on those who are not interested. Again, feel free to unsubscribe. For the rest of you, I look forward to speaking to you often about my love of quilts.❤️🪡
