Friday night date night took My Special and me to a viewing of a documentary entitled John Lewis: Good Trouble. The documentary was very well done. It was moving and informative with a lot of actual footage of the early days of the Civil Rights Movement that I had not seen before.

However, of course John Lewis was the shining star of the show as he was presented on the screen bigger than life. What struck me was his Strength and Grace. He was strong and willing to voluntarily face death for what he believed in. He went to jail 40 times and was savagely beaten on the march from Selma to Montgomery. Through it all though, he treated everyone he met with grace and humility, whether speaking with presidents or greeting strangers in the airport who just wanted to acknowledge his greatness. What an amazing human being!
I left the theater feeling grateful and proud that the Atlanta Quilt Festival had done its small part to honor this great man. Good Trouble Quilts - The Fight. The Progress. The Legacy. is available now. Buy the book (also available on Amazon and Barnesandnoble) and see what quilters think of this great man.
Happy Black History Month!
