It’s 404 Day so I am sharing my quilt Atlanta Album — This Ain’t Baltimore. In the quilting world, Baltimore Album quilts are considered the best in quilting, and many quilters aspire to make a Baltimore Album quilt someday. I chose to create my own version.
There is something different about Atlanta and that’s what makes us special, unique and amazing. I hope the culture of Atlanta is part of what makes my quilts unique and authentic. Check out this story from the AJC to learn more about 404 Day.

This quilt which was completed in 2004 began my early experimentation with African fabrics as a way to claim my authentic quilting identity. In addition to African fabrics included in the design on the front of the quilt, the fabric on the back features African women.

Wow! I can’t believe it has been 20 years since I made this quilt. I still love Atlanta Album — This Ain’t Baltimore, and it remains part of my heirloom collection to remind me to be authentically ME!

Happy 404 Day! 🌍🌸💐🌼
